This Privacy Policy explains how Dominion Technologies, LLC ("we") collects, uses and shares information when you use Songlace. Your story is personal — we treat it that way.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, your name if you give it, and your password (stored only as a salted hash).
- Your order and story: the occasion, the recipient's name and how to say it, your relationship, your name, the story and memories you share, special words, your music choices, and any notes.
- Photos: photos you upload for a Premium Memory Video.
- Payments: payments are handled by Stripe. We receive the payment status and a customer ID; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and log data used for security, rate limiting and troubleshooting.
Please only share details about other people (such as the person the song is for) that you're comfortable with us using to write their song.
How we use information
To write, produce and deliver your song, send you order emails, process payments, provide revisions, secure accounts (including preventing fraud and abuse), and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, we do not use your story or photos for advertising, and we do not use them to train third-party AI models. Music tools we use to produce your song process only what's needed to make it.
Gift pages
When your song is delivered we create a private gift page with an unguessable link. It shows the recipient's name, your name (if you gave one), the occasion, the song and the lyrics. It is not listed in search engines, and only people with the link can open it.
How we share information
With service providers that help us operate (hosting, email delivery, payment processing, music production tools), when required by law, or as part of a business transfer. Service providers are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations. We never publish your song or story as a sample without your permission.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies for sign-in sessions and security (CSRF protection). We do not use advertising cookies.
Retention
We keep your orders, story and files while your account is active so you can listen again and download your song. You can ask us to delete an order, a gift page or your whole account at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example California under the CCPA/CPRA, or other US states with privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. Email hello@songlace.com to make a request; we will verify your identity and respond within the time required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), salted password hashing, private time-limited download links, access controls and audit logs. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
Accounts are for adults (18+). The Service is not directed to children, though a song may be made for a child by a parent or relative.
Changes
We will post updates here and notify you of material changes.
